1. West Monroe - LSU commit Paul Turner can score at any time.

2. St. Augustine - Offensive linemen Trai Turner (LSU commit) and Jonah Austin (Houston commit) lead the way.

3. Catholic - QB Zack Oliver (Northwestern commit) hopes to bring the Bears deep in the playoffs again.

4. Acadiana - Senior-laden squad has a pair of great athletes in Micah Eugene, Bakari Hollier.

5. St. Paul's - DT Mickey Johnson is a force in the middle; WR Jermaine Sams is a home-run threat.

6. Hahnville - QB Brian Ensminger has a big target in 6-foot-2 Memphis commit Derek Howard.

7. Archbishop Shaw - Offensive lineman Chet Hebert and versatile Lawrence Breaud are the biggest names for the Eagles.

8. Dutchtown - RB Effrem Reed is one of the most underrated players in the state.

9. Ouachita - LB/S Terron Bell anchors defense for Lions.

10. Archbishop Rummel - Defending state runner-up team has many new faces, but DT Johnny Bertucci will provide leadership.

Class 4A

1. Franklinton - Demons face daunting task in opener vs. Abilene, Texas.

2. Salmen - DT Malcolm Pichon eliminates any chance of running up the middle against the Spartans.

3. Neville - Defending state champ came out strong last week vs. Bastrop.

4. Northside - Vikings are deep, talented, and experienced. DT Tyler Porter is the unquestioned leader.

5. McDonogh 35 - Roneagles have the state's toughest schedule, starting this week at Thibodaux.

6. Haughton - QB Dak Prescott (Mississippi State commit) will throw to a big contingent of wide receivers.

7. Lutcher - WR Jarvis Landry and RB Daniel Tayler are a spectacular duo, but will the Bulldogs solve their problems on defense?

8. Karr - Matt Bailey (Tulane commit) is a headhunter in the secondary.

9. Bastrop - Rams should score often with new offensive coordinator Thomas Bachman calling the shots.

10. Jennings - Early test this week vs. Crowley. Bulldogs will rely on terrific running game.

Class 3A

1. Redemptorist - RB Jeremy Hill is determined to win a state title after the Wolves were upset in the 2009 quarters.

2. Patterson - Jacks have more than just Hilliard (Jaydrick Declouet, Trevon Stewart, Dexter Aucoin).

3. Amite - Alden Foster has the Warriors back at the top of their game.

4. Notre Dame - Defending state champs have to replace many starters, but Stuart Cook and Pete Petitjean are back.

5. Crowley - Junior RB Davante' Bourque is a one-man highlight show.

6. Holy Cross - Tigers look to show that one-sided jamboree loss to Mandeville was a fluke.

7. Rayville - Hornets were humbled last week by West Monroe, but they won't face another team nearly as strong as the Rebels again.

8. Parkview Baptist - Eagles never rebuild, just reload.

9. St. James - Wing-T of the Wildcats is always tough to stop.

10. Carroll - Bulldogs have several underrated prospects.

1. John Curtis Christian - LB Seth Jones is part of a big, strong defensive front seven.

4. St. Charles Catholic - Giantslayer knocked off East St. John in jamboree.

5. Riverside Academy - QB Darnell Rachel doesn't get the respect he deserves.

6. Loreauville - Offensive juggernaut has several studs at the skill positions.

7. Newman - WR Odell Beckham will put up monumental numbers as a senior.

8. Farmerville - Romped over 4A Minden in jamboree.

9. Many - Looks to rebound from jamboree loss to St. Mary's last week.

10. Donaldsonville - QB Devon Breaux, RB/CB Tre Brown are gifted underclassmen.

On the Bubble: Capitol, South Beauregard, Dunham, Winnfield, Ferriday

Class 1A

1. St. John-Plaquemine - Eagles easily handled large schools Scotlandville & St. Michael in preseason.

2. South Plaquemines - New coach, but still some familiar faces in Bradley Sylve (Alabama commit) and Beau Fitte (Louisiana Tech commit).

3. Block - Offensive and defensive MVPs return for the Bears.

4. Delhi Charter - RB/LB Riccie Gray averaged more than seven yards per carry as a junior.

5. Haynesville - Defending state champions have to cope with the loss of RB D.J. Lewis, now at Northwestern State.

6. Ouachita Christian - Steven Fitzhugh is among the best coaches in Louisiana.

7. Oak Grove - Will throw the ball more often this year, thanks to tall WR Dela Mayers.

8. Southern Lab - Kittens have a trio of big-time college prospects, including LB Charles Butler.

9. White Castle - Ronald Martin (LSU commit) was unstopped much of the time last season. Defense must perform better.

10. Country Day - Quietly one of the state's most successful programs.
